Last night at Fort San Antone saw the first heat of Birchwoods Got Talent. With the stage re carpeted, spot light fixed in place and two banners put in up the seen was set. We were then treated to 9 acts in all and the Judges comments. The acts were varied in talent ability and age. Considering that this was the first night and the first time Birchwood have attempted to arrange such a competition the turn out was quite reasonable.
The compare for this evenings talent was Mr John Level ( Mr Smooth ). A local business man and a good friend of The Hadlow family. He Farley soon got into the swing of it and even heckled the judges when he thought they were being harsh. The act themselves were all very brave. I wouldn't myself enter such a competition at any age or stage of my life thus far. But there were a few youngsters that entered. Some of them seem to be understandably a bit nervous. But the star of the show and the youngest person in the competition was Master Branson Hadlow. He treated us to a display of kung fu to the song Kung Fu Fighting. He did the splits about 5 times. At the age of I think 4 he show us a very confident performance. I think he must get this from his Grand farther Mr Tony Hadlow who was there to see it. Very proud he looked too.
The winners of tonight's heat were 3 young girls that included Tony's granddaughter singing to raindrops keep falling on my head and umbrella by rhaina ( I think ). This was quite a clever little performance. In second place was a Young lady called Mandy she performed twice when she ended up in the sing off at the end. I wish I could remember what she sung. I do remember that the first song was a ABBA number. I hate ABBA but her vocal on this was good. One to look out for I think. But what the hell would I know. I wonder what the Judges YEA BOOO would think of my review.
I do know that I like the band that are on tonight 20th June The Diablo's. They have been on twice before. The first time they were on was at last years Upcountry CMA and Hall of fame awards weekend. They were the surprise package as I don't thing many people had ever heard of them. They are also one of the most professional sounding acts to grace the Birchwood stage. They are apparently playing this years awards weekend to.
